New York is one of the biggest and one of the most astoundingly beautiful cities in the World; so it’s no wonder that so many are so interested in “The Big Apple”, especially Hollywood. In so many films we see those poor people who travel to the City of Lights to become wealthy and famous, while there are others who want to take it over. So many fictional heroes have come to the rescue of New York and New Yorkers, such as; Spider-Man, Batman, The Iron Man and Captain America. And, it doesn’t matter how many troubles New York has been through – the worst is yet to come… but this time, New York, you have nothing to worry about.  You have someone who will protect you and rescue you whenever the need arises. All you need to do is sleep tight, because the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are right there for you; to rescue you secretly from an extremely powerful enemy who wants to take over New York.

April O`Neil (Megan Fox) is a journalist on a local TV channel. She tries to get a story about the evil foot clan that have been terrorizing the city. She goes to the secret place of the foot clan and witnesses how the Mutant Turtles stop them. Being curious, April follows them to obtain evidence of their existence. When she believes she has enough evidence, April returns back to the office to talk to her boss (Whoopi Goldberg), but once she finishes her story, April is fired. Becoming desperate, April talks to Eric Sacks (William Fichtner), who she presumes is the one person who will certainly believe her story. And he does. Later on, when April and the Ninja Turtles find out who the real enemy is, they team up together to face off against an evil kingpin who wants to take over New York.

So, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the reboot to the ever popular Teenage Mutant Turtles franchise. Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello are as famous as Spider Man. The story of four brothers who were rescued from a fire by the little girl, April O`Neil, is well known. And certainly, we all wanted to see how Michael Bay, as producer, and Jonathan Liebesman, as director, bring the story of these popular characters to the silver screen.  Bay, no doubt,  is aware of people`s expectations, and since he is a master of making blockbusters and action packed films, he gives us quite an interesting version of the TMNT saga; which is the first to be released in 3D.

The characters of the film are very well written. The interaction and the chemistry between the four turtle brothers is amazing. They can be funny if it’s needed, or sad if it`s required. Megan Fox as April O`Neil does a good job just being there to cheer for the Ninja Turtles. However, she also was also able to create a specific and touching connection with the Turtles, since she, as a child, had saved their lives. My only complaint about the film is William Fichtner`s character Eric Sacks. If you have seen, for instance, “The Prison Break” TV series, then you are aware of Fichtner`s proficiency to play a villainous character. He has his own approach to any character he has ever played. But unfortunately, I don`t see that approach or that powerful performance he usually delivers, however, Tohoru Masamune as Shredder, villainous character was outstanding.

In conclusion, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is extremely fun to watch. The Turtles look great and so realistic. They are also funny and smart. They know exactly what to say at just the right time without embarrassing the audience. It`s an awesome action packed film – dynamic and non-stop. If you`re a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, then you have to know one thing before you head to the theatre:  If you had expected all the spectacle, then it`s all there and even more. So be sure to go, as you are about to see  how our beloved heroes will once again, stand for New York, to make it a safer and better place to live.
