Journalism is a weapon that must be used smartly and never abused. It must help to seek answers and bring forth the truth no matter how ugly it can be. And this is what makes SPOTLIGHT such an enjoyable film to watch. It is based on a true story about how a group of journalist from Spotlight Division of Boston Globe uncover the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the Local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.

The film begins with Walter ‘Robby’ Robinson as the head of Spotlight assigned to start investigation of child molestation in the Church. In that, he gets help of Sacha Pfeiffer (Rachel McAdams), Michael Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo), Mitchell Garabedian (Stanley Tucci) and many others who are about to begin to trace the steps to one of the biggest crime stories involved with Catholic Church in Boston. But by the time the Spotlight team gets deep into their investigation, they realize the truth is about to shake the society and ruin the Church’s reputation. But does it really matter if this can help stop child rape and bring forth the priest who hides behind the Holy Wall?

SPOTLIGHT, co-written and directed by Tom McCarthy, is the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe Investigation that rocked not only the city but the entire world, showing what really happens in the Church and how the truth is being covered up by many people causing lots of trauma to those who managed to survive. McCarthy manages to bring an incredible intensity to his film with a dream cast that re-creates the footsteps of the real investigation that happened in real life.

As the film progresses, the ‘Spotlight’ team faces many challenges as the investigation continues. But the closer they get to uncover the truth, it becomes clearer that the amount of priests involved in child abuse is growing every day, causing a big shock as to why and who tried to hide the truth? But as a viewer you must get ready to face the same because what is created in this film is so absolutely unbelievable, dynamic and hell of a ride that you’re going to enjoy every minute of it.
