There is always a certain feeling of happiness you usually experience when the filmmaker manages to create a connection with you throughout the film. That allows you to connect with the characters the filmmaker creates in such a delicate way that you simply can’t stop being delighted by anything you see in the silver screen. Julie Delpy is certainly the one who knows how to create a world or write the story that will make you feel a part of it, participate and listen carefully to anything she has to offer you. And her ‘LOLO’ can be used as a great example how films should be made in order to satisfy and meet the viewer’s expectation the way that will leave an indelible mark in your heart. After all, how can it go wrong when the movie begins with Andy Williams’ song, especially the one called “To Watch Girls By?”

Lolo is flawlessly co-written and directed by Julie Delpy. It follows Violette (Julie Delpy), a 40-year old workaholic with a career in the fashion industry. She falls for a provincial computer genius, Jean-René (Dany Boon) and is about create a new chapter in her life. It seems her 19-year old son, Lolo (Vincent Lacoste) does not mind seeing his beloved mother with a man who seems to adore her and tries to create a connection with him and be as friendly as possible. But all of a sudden things go wrong which threatens the relationship between Violette and Jean-René. What is it, bad luck or Lolo’s sudden realization that he does not want to share his mother with anyone else?

The movie begins in the best way possible, smartly making the entire audience laugh through hilariously written lines. With a great start it prepares you for the extremely unforgettable journey lying ahead. And as the film continues, you come to realise the right choice you made to see Lolo. As the film progresses, the relationship between Lolo-Violette- Jean-René will get intense, sometimes dramatic, but mostly in a funny way. But it depends how deep you create the connection with the characters in order to feel them like you were one of them.

In conclusion, Lolo is a film that will end up in my top ten favorite list of 2015, and I am certain, it will end on yours too after you watch it. It has great amount of everything to interest any audience; it`s funny, dynamic, intelligent, superbly performed and real as daylight. Everything you will see in Lolo will delight your eyes and amuse your ears as it done as tastefully as possible. And you must trust me on this one… It is!
