From the latest news shared by TARO PR it was announced that principal photography has begun on Run This Town, an original feature film written and directed by Ricky Tollman. Joining the star studded cast are two-time Tony Award winner Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, Contagion, Pride and Prejudice), Scott Speedman (Animal Kingdom, Underworld, Felicity) and Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal, Shawshank Redemption).
Tony and Grammy Award winner Ben Platt (upcoming Netflix’s The Politician), Mena Massoud (Amazon’s Jack Ryan, upcoming Disney’s Aladdin), Nina Dobrev (upcoming Dog Days, Lucky Day) as well as Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Damian Lewis (Billions, Wolf Hall, Homeland) were previously announced.
The film is being produced by Randy Manis (Lawless, Kill Your Darlings, Murderball and the upcoming Jonathan, starring Ansel Elgort) and Jonathan Bronfman for JoBro Productions (The Witch, Patti Cakes, Race), and Ariella Naymark. Run This Town will be executive produced by Aqute Media’s Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman as well as CounterNarrative Films, the production company which recently launched by J.C. Chandor, Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb (Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year). Elevation Pictures will distribute the film in Canada. Aqute Media is one of the principal financiers alongside Telefilm Canada.
Run This Town follows a young journalist (Platt), desperate to prove himself, who catches wind of a scandal involving a flashy, unpredictable politician with no filter (Lewis). Political aides (Massoud and Dobrev) attempt to keep their boss in check – and the story under wraps – in order to save their jobs. The film tells the story of the Millennial generation while spotlighting the power dynamics operating in today’s workplace.
Writer-director Ricky Tollman was a producer on the upcoming film Jonathan, which will premiere at Tribeca this April. Manis and Bronfman produced Tollman’s short film, Enfant Terrible, which played the festival circuit. (Source: TARO PR)
