It does not happen very often that a short film is funny as hell. Yes, it touches upon such an important concept of sexual assault. However, it manages to take the heavy burden of the film and lightens it up with tasteful humor.

Set in 1932 in Toronto, it takes us to The Massey Estate where one sex crime has occurred. Detective Tracey Halt arrives at the estate to investigate the rape case. She concludes that there are six suspects. As she begins digging deep into what happened in the night of Lara’s terrible assault, the woman already knows who might have done it, yet enjoys every moment of it as the suspects begin slowly revealing the truth without even knowing it.

Right from the start, the film amazes us by its gorgeous cinematography, with its Sherlock Holmes concept, turning into a really gorgeous piece to watch. Of course, we know that there’s a crime that must be solved. And through the amazingly convincing performances delivered by the entire cast, Karen Knox’s short feature film proves that you do not have to go far and beyond to tell such a complex story in a humoristic way. This is why instead of calling it a rape, Knox offers a different title that is by itself truly outstanding – Case of the Massey Bodice Ripping.
