Losing a loved one is almost like losing daylight, the purpose of waking up in the morning, and carrying on with ordinary stuff. Overall, it’s like getting heartbroken where no matter how many patches you put on, it will never be the same.

Filippo (Mimmo Cuticchio) is a retired teacher who suffers greatly due to the loss of his wife. As he keeps looking at her beautifully painted image, he enjoys the last classical piece before climbing up on the chair in the middle of the room, with a rope waiting to be tried. As the man prepares for his last breath before taking away his life, someone knocks on the door, which will expand Filippo’s current existence. But will it last or is it just a temporary interruption that will eventually bring him back to where he thinks he’s supposed to be?

“Nuvola” is a beautifully shot short film that explores the agony of losing the dearest one, the inability of coping with it, nature, love, and life itself. When Filippo gets a chance to put a brake on his plans, it seems the determined man won’t change his mind. Because the moment when he’s supposed to be dead, he instead sits with his former student, Palumbo (Giulio Beranek), with whom he shares a common pain. All that will form a unique bond that surely makes the two men vulnerable towards their fears in a sad way.
